I wondered, coming from a time zone 12 hours opposite, whether I'd end up waking up earlier or staying up later after the long trip back to the states. Which way does a confused body lean when standing exactly on top of the 24 hour cycle and needing to slide all the way around to the bottom?
Well, I don't know if it's the same for everyone (although my parents had a similar experience returning from China), but for us, it's been clockwise. Or at least, we've been waking up early regardless of when we went to bed. Why is that? Does it have to do with the small mental adjustments we made in stages on the 45 hour trip back? Does it matter which way around the globe you fly? Honestly, jet lag hasn't been too bad for us. Although, I like the "I feel sleepy" excuse to sit and relax!

jet lag

OK, I'm going to come across like a big nerd here, but that is probably nothing new...
Jet lag is caused by circadian rythms. As any casino owner will tell you, circadian rythms are governed mostly by sunlight. So, the best way to fix your circadian rythms is to get as much sun as possible. Florescent lights tend to have the same effect on the body as sunlight, so you should avoid flourescent lights after the sun goes down. In casinos, they block out all sunlight and flood the place with flourescent lights so that the body thinks it is always noon.
The Eastern Hemisphere misses you guys! It was really great to have you here and the place is a bit dull without you. I hope we get to visit you in Brit-land.
Yes, nerdy, but very interesting! Thanks! I guess we did well with the whole sunshine thing or something because our experience wasn't too bad. It was awfully nice and sunny when we got here. Although it went down to the 40s last night which is sooo cold when you are used to 40 Celsius!
