Funny Photo Friday: Mmmmmm, sliced milk.

Durham, England.
If you can't tell, there's nothing but meat in that refrigerator.

*This is late- not sure why it didn't post after Corinth. It also needs a few more photos, but we'll get those up at some other time!

Funny Photo Friday: So does that mean it could elect its own president?

Not technically a photo but a 'printscreen' of our laptop. Trying to figure out how to top up our pay as you go mobile phone. Look at the 'country' highlighted under Afghanistan. I mean, really. I know it's remote, but...

Dıdn't know they were shıpped lıke that.

You can't really get a postcard of a ferry boat, especıally not the 'hıgh qualıty' boat we took from Italy to Greece, but stıll quıte wortwhıleç

Our shıp, ın all ıts glory, had our cars on top of the deck.

A semı (lorry) was parked near us and we started to smell somethıng, so we went down to ınvestıgate.

Turns out someone was shıppıng cows over the sea and rıght next to our car!

We felt bad for the thıngs, couldn't be pleasent on deck all nıght; although we were quıte happy they were downwınd :)

Funny Photo Friday: party, party.

It's time. It's time to post the hen party photos. It's actually a little late for this, having left the UK weeks ago, but I wanted to save them for a Friday.

I've mentioned them before, but HEN and STAG DOS are like American bachelor and bachelorette parties. With all the budget airlines in Europe, they often include a weekend away to Barcelona or Prague or something, but Newcastle is also a very common weekend drinking destination (and I got prime viewing of the arrivals when I went home via the train station on Friday afternoons). So here they are. Welcome to the celebration of marriage in Britain. :)

Here are some rules for the road:

1. Hen party participants tend to have matching shirts that identify them by wedding role. The colour pink is required.

2. Such items can be specially made, or plenty of shops sell handy, dandy little kits to make your own.

2b. More of such hen related items...

3. You can also just dress up generally.

3b. This can sometimes backfire, as people won’t be able to tell if you are actually on a hen do or just out for the night in ‘fancy dress’ (costumes).

3c. The veil is the key hint in this group.

3d. These girls, however, are just typically dressed for a blustery January night in Newcastle.

4. Stag dos can include matching shirts, but more typically involve dressing up the groom in fancy dress, like Fred Flintstone or an England fan at a Scottish rugby match. Some groups, however, choose to just go all out...

(I’ve stuck to back views, so hopefully no feelings were hurt in this informational post for Americans on British life.)
